Collarways is launching its new product, the Stay Over Rover, at PATS Telford in September. The Stay Over Rover is a bag which folds out to have multiple zipped compartments, designed to organise the various accessories of a dog owner, with a special compartment for dog waste bags. Pets Corner support homeless dogs this Christmas

Pets Corner is launching a charity campaign to support homeless dogs in the UK this Christmas. The campaign is asking people to donate dog coats from the 1st November to the 31st December by dropping them in at their nearest Pets Corner shop. The family-run pet retailer has agreed to donate a dog treat to the charity for every coat that it receives. Charity football match held for PDSA


A celebrity football match was held on the weekend to raise money for vet charity PDSA. Around 2,100 fans turned up to watch the match take place between Cat City and Dog’s Town at Shrewsbury Town Football Club. Its players included X Factor Winner James Arthur, So Solid Crew’s MC Harvey, and Calum Best, son of retired football player George Best. Interpet Limited, one of the largest pet and aquatic product manufacturers, has been awarded Investors in People Silver Standard. Investors in People is a UK accreditation for business improvement through people management. Cats Protection is urging cat owners to sign up to its free service Cat Guardians. The service was set up to take care of cats in the event of the owner’s death. The Kennel Club has written an open letter to the Daily Mail concerning its recent article ‘I get rid of dogs as soon as they stop being cute puppies.’ The author of the article, Shona Sibary claims to have owned four different puppies in four years. She says: “I admit there must be something mentally wrong with me,” after multiple expenses for vaccinations and micro-chipping before giving the dogs away. Kennel Club warn about purchasing puppies online

The Kennel Club are using Puppy Awareness Week to warn people about buying puppies from the internet and from newspaper adverts without seeing them first. Research conducted by the club has found that 1 in 10 people are following this route without realising that many of the puppies have been smuggled into the UK illegally from puppy farms abroad. There has been a significant increase in puppies coming into the UK since the Pet Travel Scheme in 2012 saw controls relaxed.
