New Pets at Home planned for Aberdeen

Plans have been laid out for a new Pets at Home store in Aberdeen. The new store is reported to include a veterinary practice as well as grooming services, to include an operating theatre, separate waiting areas, consulting rooms and kennels. The space is planned for a currently vacant retail space at Aberdeen’s Bridge of Don Retail Park on Murcar Industrial Estate. The proposals would offer a similar service to what is currently being offered at the city’s Beach Boulevard Retail Park by Pets at Home. Story source

PATS Sandown exhibitor stands sold out

PATS Sandown has reported that all of the exhibitor stands for the two-day event have now been sold. The halls at Sandown Park will be packed with stands showcasing new products with over 140 companies exhibiting. The line-up will include PATS regulars, international companies hoping to expand into the UK market, and a number first-time exhibitors to the show. PATS Sandown attracted a total of 1,859 visitors in 2015. One of the most popular features, the new product showcase, attracted 170 entries last year. Trilanco constructing new £7m facility

Animal health and equine products wholesaler Trilanco has begun construction on its new £7m facility. Trilanco is currently based at Poulton-le-Fylde and is set to move to the new building at the Mill Farm development at Kirkham. Pets at Home has launched its first ‘concept convenience’ store in Dorking, Surrey. The new venture ‘Whiskers ‘n Paws’ targets high street shoppers and aims to offer a range of services including grooming, bath and blow dry, puppy grooming and nail clipping. The store will focus primarily on cats and dogs. The store aims to be a ‘one stop shop’ for local pet owners, also providing numerous lines of pet products catering for cats and dogs, as well as aquatics, reptiles, birds and small animals. Founder of Pets at Home, Anthony Preston, has been honoured with a CBE for services to business, entrepreneurship and philanthropy. Anthony Preston launched animal care chain Pets at Home in 1991 and has joined the ranks of Britain’s business bosses receiving a CBE. The first store opened in Chester before it was built to a nationwide chain, and later sold for £230million in 2004. Tesco to trial pet grooming services

Tesco is set to trial pet grooming services at its largest stores. The chain is planning to open a ‘Pet Den’ in its Culverhouse Cross store in Cardiff, providing grooming services to cats and dogs while their owners shop, according to reports. The trial is said to be part of chief executive Dave Lewis’ aim to repurpose Tesco’s Extra supermarkets.
